Our values

CSST - Machining Shop PreventionFor AMEC Machining, employee and visitor safety has been a top priority since day one.

Not only have we partnered with a prevention mutual but over the last few years, our company has setup and evolved a workplace health and safety committee (CSST, in French). This helps actively prevent both incidents and accidents, at work.

AMEC Machining sees to the safety of its workers, from head to toe!

In fact, the company provides all its employees permanent hearing protection gear which are much more efficient and comfortable than conventional ear muffs. AMEC Machining also participates in the purchase of many other prevention items (boots, shells and others).

The Workplace Health and Safety Committee, made up of five (5) employees, meets once a month. These meetings make it possible to properly assess the state of the art safety gear and strategies but also, it’s the time when a formal follow-up is conducted for health and security issues, in the machining shop.

For instance, the committee…

  • carries out a monthly inspection of the machining shop;
  • makes follow-ups, at the meetings, on various themes such as the protective gear’s proper use as well as general prevention strategies;
  • does an annual check-up for all fire extinguishers and the lifting truck’s emissions;
  • has developed a procedure in the case of an accident where minor or major wounds occur;
  • proactively follows-up on the internal first aid classes;
  • attempts to find solutions to particular situations that can occur over the course of the year.

For AMEC Machining, the ongoing efforts towards greater safety in the workplace help make the company a much safer place to be for all employees and visitors. Our proactive approach makes a world of a difference.

Thanks to the safe environment of our machining shop, all our employees can go about their daily tasks without having to fear for foreseeable wounds — this helps provide you with very high quality machined parts, may they be complex or not, within reasonable delivery times.

  • Formule SAE: Spotlight on the up-and-comers!

    Formula SAE - AMEC UsinageAMEC Machining actively encourages the up-and-comers in its industry, namely by hiring trainees, who are both supervised and trained at its shop while also sponsoring Laval University’s Formula SAE, in Quebec City.

    Have you heard about the Formula SAE?

    It’s a university group where students come together, from various disciplines, to put together a racing car which will be presented in nothing less than the biggest student engineering competition in the world!

    This great engineering competition, organized by the Society of Automotive Engineers, invites the competitors, among which you’ll find the Formula SAE participants, to conceive and then build, in its entirety, a functional race car prototype that could be produced (on an assembly line) and then, sold to the general public for less than US$25,000.

    Since a considerable number of parts are required to build the prototype, AMEC Machining offers the students, who are the very designers of this race car, a financial support, namely by insuring the production of certain key parts, such as:

    • the high-performance anti-drift differential;
    • a light and customized rear suspension which provides for a superior road handling.

    Since this is a major student initiative, AMEC Machining also offers technical support to help continually improve the project as well as financial support for promotional articles, such as the clothes.

    Our know-how at your service

    More than ever, AMEC Machining celebrates the creative genius of students among the most talented, in their field. You too can benefit from our machining know-how to optimize your parts and consequently, increase the success of your projects.
