For AMEC Machining, employee and visitor safety has been a top priority since day one.
Not only have we partnered with a prevention mutual but over the last few years, our company has setup and evolved a workplace health and safety committee (CSST, in French). This helps actively prevent both incidents and accidents, at work.

In fact, the company provides all its employees permanent hearing protection gear which are much more efficient and comfortable than conventional ear muffs. AMEC Machining also participates in the purchase of many other prevention items (boots, shells and others).
The Workplace Health and Safety Committee, made up of five (5) employees, meets once a month. Safety should Always be something that should be thought of first, but at what point does it end up hurting production?
Glad to hear that you guys are taking safety so seriously. In the machining industry it is something that cannot be taken too lightly.
Safety and firsat aid training for employees is of paramount importance. THe best way to prevent emergencies is training people how to avoid them. Since accidents always do happen no matter what, it is important that poeple know how to deal with them.
As far as hurting production, employee safety training can be done online, save companies money, hours and keeping them 100% compliant with regulations.
Safety is terribly important in the machining environment and I would not want to contract or work for a company that did not make it a priority.
Having a Workplace Health and Safety Committee is really a great idea for a machine shop.
