History

History of AMEC MachiningEven before it was established, in 1995, the two mechanical engineering graduates who would go on to found the company shared a common vision which was to machine precision parts in large quantities.

To bring this business vision to life, the two owners, Mister Francois Doyon and Mister Christian Beaulieu, have brought together a team of professionals who are both competent and passionate about the machining field.

In the first few months of the company’s existence, which was based in a small rented space in Charlesbourg’s industrial park, the employees were busy repairing individual parts using machining processes.

In the month of September of 1995, in answer to requests from clients, AMEC Usinage (in French) was incorporated — an encouraging market study as well as the opportunities identified in the business plan also added to the ideal setting leading to the all-important incorporation.

In line with the AMEC Machining founding vision, the years from 1997 to 1999 have been marked by the acquisition of computer numerical control (CNC) machines which, in turn, have helped grow the level of expertise for the machining of precision parts.

In September of 2000, given the steady growth of the business volume, AMEC Machining has acquired a 3,600 square feet building followed, immediately afterwards, by a 1,500 square feet expansion.

In the Spring of 2004, the shareholders have chosen to establish a management team to oversee the ongoing activities while providing guidance for future developments.

At that period in time, looking to get a bigger share of the market, the shareholders have decided to acquire a competitor: Atelier d’usinage BG. This made AMEC Machining more visible while both growing the production capacity and solving the lack of space.

As such, since June of 2004, AMEC Machining operates its 20,000 square feet installations from the very heart of the Francois-Leclerc industrial park, in Saint-Augustin-de-Desmaures.

The current space occupation level on the production floor grants the company all the necessary breathing space to integrate new equipment but also, when necessary, to redesign the configuration of the space in order to optimize the line-flow production.

Today, the company can count on a solid management team, qualified, experienced and motivated employees as well as some of the world’s most advanced production machines to insure its growth, in full respect of the founders’ vision, for the clients’ greater benefit.
